As I mentioned last week, I’ll be live-blogging and tweeting from the Enterprise Cloud Summit at Interop today and tomorrow. The agenda is a mix of speakers, panels and an interspersed ‘real-world’ demo series, where representatives from Amazon, RightScale, SOASTA, 10Gen, Google, and Skytap have 10-minute slots to show their cloud wares. I’ll probably blog the speakers & panels, tweet the demos.
After today’s Enterprise Cloud Summit, I’ll be attending Cloud Camp, the cloud computing unconference series for practitioners and providers.
“CloudCamp is an unconference where early adapters of Cloud Computing technologies exchange ideas. With the rapid change occurring in the industry, we need a place we can meet to share our experiences, challenges and solutions. At CloudCamp, you are encouraged you to share your thoughts in several open discussions, as we strive for the advancement of Cloud Computing. End users, IT professionals and vendors are all encouraged to participate.”
I hear 300 people are registered for Cloud Camp, so it should be content rich. Plus, I’m looking forward to meeting many of the ‘cloudies’ I chat with on Twitter.
One more thing before I caffeinate. Interop conducted a pre-show survey of 933 attendees. Some fun facts:
IT Spend:
- 38 percent of Interop Las Vegas 2009 attendee IT budgets will remain flat
- 42 percent of attendees 2009 IT budgets are actually increasing compared with 2008
- 20 percent of attendees budgets will decrease compared with 2008
Cloud Computing:
· 59 percent are currently using, planning to use or considering cloud computing
Green:
· 70 percent are interested in learning more about IT energy conservation
Back in a few with live coverage. If you want to follow the event on twitter, folks are using the #Interop tag.
