It is hard to solve the problem of "Business and IT alignment" when IT is considered a cost center and the Business is the revenue generator. IT constantly has to prove its worth to its "partner" (partner in quotes because it is a partnership of unequals).

When you realize the problem should be IT/customer alignment, and Business/customer alignment, everyone has "skin in the game" and they are marching towards the same goal.
